Moving from Canada to Romania

Confirm export arrangements, arrival routing, Romanian customs documents and any storage at our Chitila-Rudeni hub before booking. Send an inventory, addresses and preferred dates for a written scope covering origin handling, ocean freight, customs coordination and destination services. We do not publish unverified transatlantic prices or guaranteed transit times.

1. Send an itemised inventory, photos or a walk-through video; we estimate volume in CBM (m³) and confirm it during the survey.
2. Provide collection and delivery addresses, floors, lift dimensions, parking and walking distance from the vehicle.
3. Share your preferred dates and flexibility; consolidation and sailing schedules affect the indicative transit window.
4. Specify packing, disassembly, unpacking, assembly and storage needs so the written quote defines what is included.
5. Prepare a declared-value inventory and consider all-risk door-to-door insurance; confirm the cover and exclusions before booking.

Household goods arriving in Romania from outside the EU require import clearance. Relief for transferring normal residence is conditional on residence, ownership/use and import timing; Romanian customs decides eligibility. Passenger baggage rules are not a substitute for container clearance.

• Prepare an inventory and evidence of your previous non-EU residence and new Romanian residence.
• Have the broker check eligibility, prior use, import deadlines and restrictions under EU relief rules before loading.
• Confirm the actual arrival port, shipment documents and any inland or storage costs in the written quote.
• EU relief generally requires at least 12 consecutive months of normal residence outside the EU and possession/use of non-consumable goods for at least six months before that residence ended; exceptions require customs review.
• Qualifying imports generally take place within 12 months of establishing normal residence in the EU. Transfer, lending or hiring out within 12 months of the import declaration requires customs notification and may make duty payable.
• Confirm Canada export arrangements and the actual ocean route with the origin provider; Canadian BSF186 and US CBP 3299 are destination-import documents, not Romanian relief applications.
